He was one of the founders of the Slovak People's Party in 1918, and was its representative in the Prague Parliament in 1925. After the Munich Agreement Tiso became President of autonomous Slovakia, and willing to co-operate with the Germans. He supplied troops for the German campaign against Russia and did not resist including his country in the "final solution" of the Jewish Question. In April 1945 Tiso fled to the west but was captured and sentenced to death in 1946.
